Inside the New Appalachian Food Trail: Farm-to-Table Goes Mountain Style

A groundbreaking culinary tourism initiative is mapping out the flavors of West Virginia like never before. The Appalachian Food Trail, launching this spring, connects over 40 restaurants, farms, and artisan food producers along a scenic 200-mile route through the heart of the Mountain State.

The Vision

"West Virginia has always had incredible food — ramps, pawpaws, heritage pork, artisan cheese — but we never had a way to tell that story to visitors," says trail organizer Lisa Chen.

What to Expect

  • Curated tasting menus at participating restaurants
  • Farm visits with hands-on cooking experiences
  • Seasonal pop-up dinners in unexpected locations
  • A companion app with audio stories from local chefs

The trail launches officially on May 15th with a grand tasting event in Lewisburg.
