There is a distinct difference between someone who eats a lot and a professional foodie challenger. Today at Bourbon Street Bistro, downtown Charleston witnessed a masterclass in the latter. Brandon, known to the competitive eating world as "Da Garbage Disposal," rolled into town not just to eat, but to dismantle a record that has stood firm since the restaurant opened its doors.

More Than a Meal: A Professional Production

Brandon doesn't just show up with an appetite — he shows up with a mission. Before the first bite of his 24-inch Po'Boy, he was already at work, proving he is a true one-man marketing machine.

  • The Content Creator: Brandon arrived early to set up a professional three-camera rig, capturing b-roll of the kitchen and the sandwich assembly so this mom-and-pop shop gets the high-quality promotion it deserves.
  • The Entertainer: Despite the looming 45-minute timer, Brandon's entertainer-at-heart persona was on full display — he spent 30 minutes before the challenge meeting fans, taking selfies, and cracking bad jokes with the crowd.
  • The Professional Edge: From calling ahead to schedule the event to his cool, "been there, done that" attitude, Brandon's presence turned a local lunch spot into a high-stakes arena.

The Opponent: The Undefeated Bayou Beast

The challenge at hand is a Creole-style mountain of food that has remained unconquered since it hit the menu. To win, Brandon must finish a two-foot sandwich loaded with fried oysters, blackened chicken, "debris" (savory roast beef bits), and fried shrimp — all within 45 minutes.

As a warm-up, Brandon casually polished off the Bistro's signature Bayou Deviled Eggs — deep-fried eggs topped with shrimp and bacon. For most, that's a full meal. For the Disposal, it was just the opening act.

The Scene: Charleston Shows Up

Bourbon Street Bistro was packed as fans and curious diners alike filled every seat to watch the spectacle unfold. The energy in the room was electric — part sporting event, part community gathering.

A Meeting of West Virginia Foodie Legends

While the spotlight was firmly on Brandon's technique, the event drew out local legends Jay Silverman and Joel Bennett from Have Fun WV.

Jay and Joel are staples of the West Virginia food scene, best known for their WV Hot Dog Tour and their documentary, A Tale of a West Virginia Hot Dog. The duo stopped by to talk shop with Brandon — and specifically to reminisce about his legendary record at Hillbilly Hot Dogs. Brandon holds the jaw-dropping title for the Home Wrecker Challenge, which he finished in a staggering 1 minute and 53 seconds.

While Jay and Joel typically focus on the culture and fun of the state's hidden gems, they were there to witness the raw power of a professional challenger at the top of his game.

What's at Stake?

For Brandon, the goal is simple: be the first name on the Wall of Fame. A successful challenge means the $50+ meal is free, he takes home a winner's t-shirt, and he cements his legacy as the man who finally broke the Bistro's undefeated streak.

The Cliffhanger

The timer is running. The debris is thick, the bread is dense, and the 45-minute clock is ticking in the heart of Charleston. Can the man who conquered the Home Wrecker in under two minutes survive the Louisiana-style onslaught at Bourbon Street Bistro — or will this 24-inch beast remain the undefeated champion of Lee Street?
